Edit
Every morning around 6am the noise begins. The Japanese say it sounds to them like beautiful music, but to me it sounds like relentless, unforgiving, brutal machinary. The Sekada. The sound acts as a trigger and prompts the memory of us coming to Japan, a year ago now, and also signifies that my time here is coming to a close. On Saturday 26th we went to Rainbow Town beach for a goodbye BBQ. The significance of that date weighed strongly on our minds, and also the significance of the act of goodbye. In some ways saying goodbye to each other, and to Japan, is like a final goodbye to you Duncan, and thats why I feel so sad today. I like to think of you as being part of the things I see around me, part of my Japan, and I dont know how I will feel when I cant see those things anymore. I hope the memory of you will act as the sweeter counterpart to the memory of the Sekada; forgiving, gentle and human. Goodbye Japan.
