Owing to our many common interests we were never short of something to talk about. Our liking of similar bands developed into our mutual adoration of our own band. We'd often wait until we were out of the earshot of our many Arsenal-supporting friends before having a good old grumble about Spurs. More recently the fact that we were both teaching and sharing stories from our very different classroom environments was a regular topic of conversation and correspondence.

Sharing these things with Duncan is something I will never forget and will always greatly miss.

Barry, Norma and Craig, you are never far from my thoughts.
